Recycling Cart Monitors

Specialty Area: Waste/Recycling
Type: Part-Time
Location: Orlando & Orange County
Compensation: Starting at $15.75/Hour, $17.75/Hour if Team Driver

Position Overview

  • Early morning shifts (Usually 6 AM – 12 PM) and flexible work schedule (one to five workdays per week)
  • Complete training program and strictly adhere to all safety requirements and procedures specified during training
  • Arrive each morning to pick up equipment at MSW Consultants office and carpool to designated Orange County neighborhoods
  • Work in a team to inspect the contents of recycling carts in Orange County
  • Grade how accurately each household has adhered to the recycling program, record data on handheld device, and place informational tags on carts
  • Consistently wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to include visibility vest, walking shoes, etc.
  • Maintain awareness of potential safety hazards (traffic, dangerous footing, uneven surfaces, insects/rodents/snakes, etc.) encountered while walking through residential neighborhoods
  • Maintain hydration and proper nutrition in order to safely and efficiently operate as needed
  • Return to the MSW Consultants office daily to follow end of day check out procedures

Qualifications

  • Capable of learning extensive details about the project and county requirements to communicate these details to residents
  • Familiar with iPhones for use in finding addresses and inputting the result of individual cart inspections in a customized app
  • Reliable with ability to show up to work consistently and on time for an early morning shift
  • Attentive to health and safety practices while working outdoors in residential neighborhoods, maintaining good hydration, and avoiding risks associated with moving vehicles
  • Friendly and capable of interacting with residents who may be curious, or even potentially unsupportive of their recycling carts being inspected
  • Ability to walk up to 10 miles (average 6-7 miles) per day intermittently, up to 5 days per week while carrying needed materials (5 lbs) in a tool belt
  • Ability to read and speak English clearly; Spanish or Creole a plus
  • If driving, a valid driver's license and willingness to provide teammate with carpool
