If you haven't had your waste sort yet let me assure you it is painless. Susan and Cynthia were here this morning, set up and quickly sorted the waste, tore down, cleaned up and were out in less than 90 minutes. All I had to do was open the door and let them in. I am looking forward to seeing the results!

MSW's staff were professional, responsive, and thorough in their efforts. Their ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the City government, including city management, public works management, legal counsel, union representatives, and operations staff, greatly enhanced the acceptance of their work. I would work with MSW Consultants again in the future, and highly recommend them to any local government needing to improve operations or cut unnecessary costs.

In a time of financial shortfalls and increasingly limited local disposal capacity, [MSW Consultants principal] John Culbertson provided us with an excellent overview of long term waste disposal options and performed the detailed analysis needed to create a system benefit charge that will place Frederick County's solid waste system on firm financial footing. Equally important, John helped us present the results of the analysis to the County Commissioners in a clear and concise manner.

Georgia's largest city, home to Braves baseball fans, provides a range of sanitation and beautification services. The Atlanta Department of Public Works has a mission to enhance Atlantans' quality of life and support economic development with its services that include improving the public right-of-way, collecting household and public space waste and recycling, and a range of special services for City residents and businesses. The City of Atlanta Department of Public Works retained MSW Consultants as a litter expert to assist the City in its litter abatement and prevention efforts with a pair of studies.
MSW Consultants quantified the amount of litter per roadway centerline mile, characterized accumulated litter, and identified litter sources. The Study established the state of litter on Atlanta's roadways and provided actionable strategies to enhance the City's litter abatement and prevention programs. The baseline data and analysis performed during the study will aid the Department of Public Works in prioritizing litter programs and evaluating the success and enhancements of its program.
Intro for the map:
As part of a comprehensive litter assessment in the City of Atlanta, MSW Consultants utilized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to build a statistically valid and geographically representative sampling plan. The team overlaid multiple spatial data layers—including city boundaries, city council districts, and classified roadway networks to perform segmented random sampling. By analyzing the total linear miles of roadway by type (e.g., arterial, collector, local) within each region, we proportionally distributed and randomly selected litter observation points across the city. This approach ensured balanced representation across diverse geographies and road types, allowing for meaningful comparison and targeted mitigation strategies.
